Canaan Loop and Coutry Roads Tour

We will meet up at the Blackwater Falls State park lodge at 10:30 on Saturday September 30 with a planned 11:00 departure for the Canaan loop road. We will finish this leg up back at the lodge to regroup. Next will be a drive towards the Canaan Valley resort area to get on route 72 to drop down to River road and follow that along the Cheat river back to Parsons. From Parsons we will travel through the Fernow experimental forest. This is a forest that is maintained to study various management methods. We will travel along maintained forest service roads to Route 41 and follow along Shavers fork back to Route 33 just east of Elkins. We will complete our day with dinner at Smoke on the Water BBQ in Elkins. Feel free to join or leave anywhere along way. I’ll say this is stock friendly but the Canaan loop will test it. The rest of the trip is just beautiful country back roads. Rough estimate for the day is about 6 hours to complete everything. Pack food and drink accordingly. There will be stops along the way so it’s not a marathon.
